Born in Santa Cruz, Bolivia, Ingrid is a licenciate in Biological Sciences of the Universidad Autónoma Gabriel René Moreno and a specialist in Plant Genetic Resources for the Universidad Politécnica of Madrid, where she is presently registered for her Doctoral thesis in “Conservation and germination in vitro of endemic and native orchids of Bolivia”, in the Department of Plant Biology of UPM, Madrid, Spain.
Professionally she has been employed at the Coordinator for the Biotechnology Laboratory of I.I.A. El Vallecito (UAGRM), and more recently as Coordinator for the Unit for Investigation and Development of the Fundación Amigos de la Naturaleza (FAN). She is presently Coordinator of the laboratorio de Biotecnología BIOFAN at U.A.G.R.M. She has been a university teacher at UAGRM and the National Coordinator of the Bolivian Biotechnology Network for more than 15 years.
Ingrid has developed various training courses for in vitro plant tissue culture in CIAT – Colombia, IDEA – Venezuela, CIFOR – Madrid, INTA – Argentina and at the University of Reading – England, amongst others. She has participated in different events related to biotechnology at both the national and international level.
Fabián Quispe Ordóñez
Born in La Paz, Bolivia, Fabián is a licenciate in Biological Sciences of the Universidad Autónoma Gabriel René Moreno, of Santa Cruz, Bolivia.
He has worked in various areas of in vitro culture, especially with ornamental plants such as e Costus, cactus and orchids. His pre-graduate thesis was the in vitro propagation of Costus arabicus and later he has specialized in the in vitro culture of orchids. At the moment he is employed as an assistant in the Laboratorio de Biotecnología BIOFAN in the Biology Department of U.A.G.R.M.
